It's right to run off the 24.  And there's a very good reason why.   It's the only play that White cannot (should not) cube.  Any other play is simply "too passive" and doesn't give Red the hope of a reasonable game.  Sometimes, when you take the "bigger risk" it turns out to be just as big a risk for your opponent, as White's downside if he doesn't hit is pretty big.  The lesson:  always consider what happens with the cube when you are considering different checker plays.
