Red has the choice of three different points which can be made.  Since White has a checker on the bar, adding an inner board point is very attractive.  After making the three point, White dances with nine numbers rather than four.  This is the best play.



If White's checker were on the one point instead of the bar, making the three point would be a blunder.  It would be more important to consolidate some of the blots around the board.  Making the 15 point would be best.
