4-26-10 Match Play Answer

I had a real problem with this play.  I hated making my 2-point and saw some real benefits to coming off either of my two anchors.  I actually didn't understand the best play when I saw it in ExtremeGammon, and I had to play the position out a few times to get the insights necessary.  Making the 2 point, of course, is not great, but it simply beats the alternatives.  This is a game where you very much need to hold your anchors as it is very likely you will get hit and you need the "comfort" of 20 numbers to come in so that you don't get blitzed.  After any play you are simply too "stiff" not to leave shots, and you will be outboarded and Red will hit almost with abandon.
