6-3 Match play‎ > ‎

6-3 Answer

This play illustrates two important concepts:  game plan, and duplication.

Every time you make a play, ask yourself what your game plan is. What is your best chance to win this game?
In this case, if you're Red, your answer should be to try to get a shot.  You are behind in the race 48 pips, and you're not about to prime your opponent, so that only
leaves one plan...get and hit a shot.

The best way to do that is to put yourself in a position that leads to getting shots, but at the same time, you don't want to get hit twice, and duplicating 1's is a good way to prevent that from happening.
