Cluster Counting

Counting pips can be a real headache and time consuming.  But an old friend of mine, Jack Kissane, is famous for counting pips in just a few seconds and he's never wrong.  Is he a genius...maybe...but he says the main reason he's so fast and accurate is that he has practiced doing it a lot, but mostly because he has learned some shortcuts.  Jack uses "cluster counting" that breaks down groups of checkers into clusters where you can quickly count the total number of pips of those checkers.

He wrote a great article on this subject which can be found here:  http://www.bkgm.com/articles/McCool/cluster.html
