Cube Problem Answer

2away/4away is a "magical" score, unlike any other score in backgammon.  Both players have take points in the range of 18 to 20 percent, but the cost of gammons to the player in the lead, after the cube is turned, is 1.0.  In layman's terms, that means that losing a gammon costs him the match.

So it's not surprising that the trailer has a quick trigger finger on the cube.  What's surprising about this position is that it's also a drop.  To most, this looks like an easy take, but activation of gammons at this score makes this a big drop.
