Hitting is ugly.  You leave two blots, and that gives him 20 shots that hits you.
It is a terrible play.  Except for one thing:

Every other play is worse.

Sometimes we are not choosing what is the best play, but what is the least bad.  The glass is not always half empty.  He may hit you with 20 numbers, but what about the 16 that don't?  And what will this game look like in a roll or two if you don't hit?

Hitting is so right that the next best play is a double-blunder!
