2010-07-13 Money Cube/Answer

It may surprise you that this is no cube.  It surprised me!  See, when I looked at this, I saw a lot of market losing sequences.....for example, if Red brings a checker in from the 13 point and doesn't get hit, he's lost his market.  What I didn't realize here is that losing your market is a good thing when volatility favors your opponent!  David Rockwell pointed this position out to me and explained it in detail.  Here's a situation where Red is likely to leave a shot--even though an indirect, this game could end either way on the next roll.  Giving the cube in this situation is a wonder gift to white, and as you can see, extremeGammon agrees.
